Guides

Questions, answered

How do I get a YouTube video transcript into Claude?

Install the extension, open any YouTube video with captions, and click Add to Claude next to Like and Share. The full transcript is formatted as markdown and uploaded into the Claude project you pick. Learn more →

Can I preview the transcript before adding it?

Yes. Open the extension popup on any video and click Preview transcript. Read it, then add it to a project, copy the markdown, or download the file.

Does it work without a Claude API key?

Yes. It uses your existing claude.ai browser session. No API key, no signup, no separate account. Learn more →

Do transcripts include timestamps?

Yes. Transcripts are grouped into paragraphs of about 30 seconds, each prefixed [m:ss], so Claude can cite the exact moment something was said. Learn more →

Is my data collected?

No. There are no servers and no analytics. The transcript goes from YouTube directly to claude.ai inside your browser, only when you click the button. Your default project choice is stored locally.
